Sonic the Hedgehog 1 Beta - Green Hill Zone Act 1

Flowers in the beta version of the game are pink. The ring counter says "RING" instead of "RINGS".

These two screens are from a later version where the flowers are green, but the counter still says "RING".

The monitor is different, and the background in the beta version has a plain featureless area.

Extra spikes in the beta version, and the flowers are pink.

Beta version has an extra badnik, which Sonic has just destroyed, so I can't tell what it is. The monitor on the far right is different.

The purple rock is missing, and there's a spot that looks like a flower in the bottom left-hand corner.

Counter says "RING".

Although the X/Y coordinates are exactly the same in both screenshots, the ring is lower down in the beta version, which suggests the "scrolling" was different.

This ball item isn't in the final version, except as part of Robotnik's machine at the end of GHZ. A small amount of the programming for the ball object is left in the game, not enough for it to work properly.

In the beta version, Sonic does a strange leap of celebration at the end of each level.
