Sonic the Hedgehog 1 Beta - Splats

This is a scan of the back of a collectable Sonic card. It shows a badnik called "Splats", which isn't anywhere to be found in Sonic 1. The caption says "He's a bunny gone bad and he'll try to squash you!", which probably means it jumped around. The spring underneath Splats supports this theory. Although Splats is accompanied by information about the Special Stage, it's unlikely he was actually in the Special Stage. The card was made in 1993, two years after Sonic 1, so the makers of the cards were acting on pretty old information.

The Splats sprite was found within the Sonic 1 ROM by Nemesis:
