The final Zone, probably set in space, looks like it would've had a lot of tricky obstacles and small platforms for Sonic to balance precariously on. I would bet those orange platforms spun around periodically, so you'd have to time your jumps to coincide with when the platforms spun.

Those walkways look quite narrow.
