SPRITE MAPPINGS GUIDE

Sonic & Tails' Mappings - Sonic 3:

The format for Sonic & Tails' mappings is no different to anything else, but if you want to edit them in any meaningful way, you'll need to know how his pattern load cues work:

NNNN - ( ST - TT )

As before, NNNN only appears once for each sprite, and ( ST - TT ) appears however many times NNNN says.

S:
This nybble describes the number of 8x8 tiles which need to be loaded from the ROM to the RAM.

The number of tiles you want, minus 1 = S

TTT:
These three nybbles describe where in the ROM you want to start reading from. 000 is the first 8x8 tile of Sonic's patterns.
